The TX-IRHS offers High-Speed infrared serial communications up to 19,200bps [19200 baud] without expensive & hard to implement IRDA hardware.

The TX-IRHS is an 8-pin PIC microcontroller custom programmed as a High-Speed infrared carrier modulator/transmitter IC. The TX-IRHS is designed for use in High-Speed [up to 19200 baud] infrared serial data links, and remote control applications. Data present on the DIN pin is recreated on the DOUT pin modulated at 455KHz [that's four hundred and fifty five thousand cycles per second] carrier frequency providing a simple, single-chip, affordable solution, for High-Speed infrared data communications and remote control applications.

The TX-IRHS is pin programmable to allow specific configuration options to be set on power up.

Programmable options are:

Controlling the carrier duty-cycle DSEL allows higher peak pulsed currents to the infrared LED, or power savings for battery powered applications at lower duty cycles.

Controlling the input logic MSEL allows the TX-IRHS IC to be used with inverted or true serial modes for PC to PC or embedded applications such as High-Speed infrared wireless communications between two BASIC Stamp or PIC microcontrollers.
