With the IR-D14 building your own custom remote control system is incredibly simple, very affordable, and you can use your favorite universal IR remote transmitter to control them -- It just doesn't get any easier than this.

OPERATION:
On power-up the IR-D14 digital outputs default to logic 0 or ground. The LED drive output is “opencollector”, and defaults to high impedance to turn off the status LED. A valid button press received from the universal IR transmitter corresponding to an IR-D14 digital output will toggle that outputs logic state from ground to logic 1. Pressing the same button a 2nd time will toggle the same digital output pin from logic 1 back to ground.

Depressing and holding a button on the transmitter will cause the corresponding output to toggle between logic 1 to logic 0 at rates of approximately 1/2 second “500 millisecond” intervals.

Note: If you need a 15-bit "14 momentary" & " 1 latching" version, please see the new IR-D15A HERE.

The IR-D14:

Need a "Super Simple" infrared receiver IC that you can control with your favorite universal IR transmitter..? We have one. The IR-D14 is an 18-pin DIP microcontroller - preprogrammed by Reynolds Electronics to decode Sony® Corporations infrared remote control command protocol. Use any infrared remote control transmitter that can be programmed to use the Sony® infrared protocol to control the IR-D14 IC.

bullet

Latching or toggle outputs.

bullet

The IR-D14 IC requires only 5VDC power + "1" external component [1 40KHz IR detector module] for a fully functional receiver circuit.

bullet

A whopping 14-Bit output [15 including the LED output] in a single 18-pin package.

bullet

Super simple circuit - easy for even the novice to build & use.

bullet

Direct LED drive outputs [25mA max per pin - total 200mA max combined].

bullet

Use pre-manufactured, power efficient, universal remote control transmitters to control the IR-D14 IC.

bullet

Save time, money, and resources integrating remote control capabilities into robotics, hobby projects & OEM equipment with off-the-shelf transmitters.

bullet

Most decoder ICs require a secondary drive circuit such as a transistor to control a simple LED. The IR-D14 can directly drive up to 25mA max per pin, [200mA total per IC], and drive LEDs directly with a single current limiting resistor.

bullet

LED output provided for visual "data received" confirmation, and system range testing.

bullet

The IR-D14 IC requires no external oscillator or crystal to function, reducing overall circuit noise considerably.

bullet

OEMs. Add remote control to you next product without the hassles of FCC approval, and the huge expense of RF solutions. Drop in an IR-D14 IC, then select a pre-manufactured universal IR transmitter for your new remote controlled product. Saving the expense of RF components, FCC approval, and huge costs of manufacturing the products transmitter.

Note: For the best operating range with the IR-D14 IC, we recommend using the Vishay® TSOP1140 IR detector modules HERE. These provide very stable & reliable operation, have excellent ambient noise cancellation features + very good sensitivity to the 40KHz data signal.
